Today is the deadline for changing your political affiliation. Why’s this important?

During the Presidential primary in march, some voters were confused by the ballot they received. They received a Republican ballot when they thought they should have received a Democratic ballot. Or the other way around. When they dug into the reason they’d received a Republican and not a Democratic ballot, they found they had in fact chosen Republican as their party when they registered to vote. They had either forgotten they registered as Republican or had changed their political views since the last time they’d registered.

This upcoming election, ending June 30th (and a reminder that ballots will be sent out on June 8th), is also a primary election like the one we had in March. What this means for voters is that the party they last chose when registering to vote is the party’s ballot they will receive this Primary Election. Voters have until 11:59pm tonight, June 1st, to change their party affiliation for the June 30th Primary Election. You can do this by by clicking the “View your voter registration” link on our homepage.
